1 killed, 4 wounded among 30th IB troopers in raid against NPA-SDN; 1 Red fighter martyred
The 30th IB under the 901st IBde launched a raid against the New People’s Army-Surigao del Norte (NPA-SDN) in the mountainous part of Barangay Alipao, Alegria, Surigao del Norte last February 8, 2022 at around 5:57 in the morning. The gunfight lasted for almost an hour and resulted in the death of Comrade Wolf. Three high-powered firearms (1 M16, 1 BB M16, 1 Akchikuz), 1 command detonated explosive device, 1 roll of wire, ammunition, and other personal belongings were left behind. A soldier was killed and four were wounded among troops of the 30th IB.
For the record, the NPA-SDN was carrying out mass work in the area to help the victims of typhoon Odette who so far have not received any help or assistance from the government. This is contrary to Calantas’ claim that the NPA-SDN was extorting from farmers. Surigaonons need food, water and housing. Instead, the AFP/PNP subject them to militarization and relentless attacks even in remote areas. From October 2021 to the present, they have been conducting non-stop military operations in the Agusan-Surigao area which is in line with Duterte’s order to end the people’s armed resistance during his term, a strategy patterned after the US Counter Insurgency Program.
These attacks only aggravate the socio-economic conditions of the people which, in turn, fuel the armed resistance. The attacks drain the limited public funds that should have been spent on public health, education and aid. This only exposes the rottenness of the semicolonial and semifeudal system and heightens the people’s desire for national and social liberation.
Long live the NPA-SDN!
Long live the people fighting against the terrorist state!
