NDF Negros demands rights for captured, wounded and killed NPA members, fears for safety of comrades
National Democratic Front (NDF) – Negros demanded that state forces must give full range of rights based on the Comprehensive Agreement on Respect of Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law (CARHRIHL) to New People’s Army (NPA) members who were captured, wounded and killed in the recent encounter at Sitio Balik-Balik, Barangay Tabu, Ilog, Negros Occidental last September 14.
According to Ka Bayani Obrero, NDF-Negros spokesperson, it is public knowledge that the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and Philippine National Police (PNP) have a long history of human rights violations especially under a bloodthirsty, tyrannical and warmongering Duterte.
“We fear for the the safety especially of the captured and wounded NPA members,” said Obrero.
He recalled the outrage of the revolutionary movement and all human rights advocates after Kerima “Ka Ella” Tariman despite being rendered an hors de combat during an encounter between NPA fighters and government troops in Hacienda Remunda, Barangay Kapitan Ramon, Silay City last August 20 was killed by the 79th Infantry Battalion violating International Humanitarian Law and protocols of war.
Obrero also called on the Ilog Police Station to “release all residents captured after the encounter at Barangay Tabu.”
“They are ordinary citizens and should not be used to falsely exaggerate the incident,” he said, “undoubtedly, tagging these civilians as NPA members is a modus to collect more cash rewards via the Enhanced Comprehensive Livelihood Integration Program (E-CLIP).”
Obrero further said that “for all the efforts to refashion its foul reputation, state forces cannot hide its true character from the people as it blindly serves the oppressor and exploiter of the masses–the ruling class of big bourgeois capitalists and land lords.”
The NDF-Negros called on all human rights advocates and watchdogs and peace-loving individuals to stay vigilant, expose and oppose the violations of human rights and resist a regime that has put the entire country practically under a martial rule.###
