Persistent in faith in a just God, journeying with the people in the intensifying struggle to oust the US-Duterte regime
As an allied organization of the National Democratic Front (NDF), the Christians for National Liberation (CNL) affirms its faith in a just and liberating God and is in solidarity with the struggle of the basic masses against the semi-colonial and semi-feudal systems operating in Philippine society. Steadfast in its firm resolve, CNL persists in arousing, organizing and mobilizing church people to rise up and join the rising resistance against the fascist rule of blood thirsty US-Duterte regime.
Indeed, CNL praises the relentless works of the faithful in influencing the institution to bring it closer to the struggle of the basic masses. It sustains solidarity works with the victims of all forms of injustice under a government that wants to lord over the people, serving its own selfish evil goals rather than serve the welfare and interest the Filipino people, especially those who are relegated in the quagmire of poverty and easy prey to exploitation and human rights violations.
As the nation commemorates the International Human Rights Day on December 10, 2020, CNL renews its vows to struggle with masses of poor and oppressed people with persistent and able leadership of the proletariat and the peasants, thus help intensify the struggle against a tyrant, plunderer, killer, puppet of the monopoly capitalist and a beastly-like representation of the big bureaucrat capitalist. US-Duterte regime ends languishing in total failure. He will surely be accountable for the gross disregard to human rights and life and be condemned, as he is condemned now, by the generations to come like his counterpart Ferdinand Marcos.
Karapatan, an alliance for the advancement of people’s rights, characterizes Duterte’s government as a government of heightened terrorism, undisguised fascism, and unbridled repression. CNL embraces and professes such a description of Duterte’s tyrannical rule and is aghast with the thousands of human rights violations committed in the name of a senseless war on drugs and attempts to pacify dissents using evil tactics red-tagging, surveillance, harassment and their like.
NUPL (National Union of People’s Lawyers) describes red-tagging’s purpose: “…to silence dissent and criticism and repress the growing opposition against the government for its anti-people policies. With the government’s avowed goal of ending the communist insurgency through a so-called “whole of nation approach” in tandem with draconian measures like the Anti-Terror Law.” CNL is one of the growing number of organizations that cannot be silenced and would condemn always to the highest level crimes committed by this regime against humanity.
CNL’s unshakable commitment to journey with the people in waging a national democratic revolution with socialist perspective is beyond measure. Worth noting that a number of Christian martyrs lived out their faith to death in defense of human rights. Today, same faith conviction moves rising number of Christian people to defend the sanctity and inviolability of human lives even it would mean their “holy blood”.
CNL hails those our martyr comrades who offered their lives in the name of revolution and liberation. Borrowing the words from Tertullian, one of Church Fathers who wrote that “the blood of martyrs is the seed of the Church”, CNL affirms that the blood of the martyrs is the seed of the revolution” i.e. martyrs’ willingness to offer their very lives inspire men and women to embrace the cause of genuine freedom, heightening even Christian people’s active engagement in the people’s struggle to topple down the current dispensation.
While CNL conveys with families and love ones of those our comrades, human rights leaders like Randy Malayao, Zarah Alvarez, Eugenia Magpantay, Agaton Topacio and many others who chose to thread the path of sacrificial service in the name of transformation and liberation, it commits ourselves anew to champion the cause of human rights the democratic revolution even as it continues to humbly examine and remold itself to remain faithful to God and to the people well-loved by God.
Enthused by the testimonies of the working class and peasants and of the New People’s Army’s unquestionable dedication to win the battle against imperialism, bureaucratic capitalism and feudalism, CNL is persistent in its faith in a just God, journeying with the people in the intensifying struggle to oust the US-Duterte regime and is certain that the Filipino people emerge victorious.
Intensify the struggle against the US-Duterte regime!
Advance the Filipino people’s struggle for national and social liberation!
Long live the Christians for National Liberation!
Long live the Filipino people!
