CPP calls NPA units in Luzon to assess post-earthquake situation in communities
The Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) today immediately directed units of the New People’s Army (NPA) to assess the situation of communities in its areas of operations after Luzon island was hit by a major earthquake this morning.
“Nakikiramay at nakikiisa kami sa mamamayang labis na naapektuhan ng malakas na lindol kanina sa iba’t ibang bahagi ng Luzon, laluna sa hilagang bahagi,” CPP Chief Information Officer Marco Valbuena said over social media.
He said an immediate assessment of the situation must be made in order to determine the necessary response.
Valbuena then said that NPA units in the affected areas should take necessary measures to help the masses in rehabilitation. “Units of the NPA, local Party branches and mass organizations should be mobilized and coordinated to facilitate relief efforts,” he added.
He also urged urban-based Party branches and committees to coordinate efforts to assist rural and peasant communities in recovery efforts
“Maaaring kaagad na magpakilos ng iba’t ibang anyo ng tulong para maiabot sa mga nangangailangan,” he said. (CPP Information Bureau)
